Hole 1 – Lang Reach

Not an easy starting hole, it’s a long Par 4 for the gents and a Par 5 for the ladies. Playing into the wind aim at the centre of the fairway for safety. The second shot is blind, but there is a marker pole behind the green, favour the right side of the pole for an easier approach to the green.
Hole 2 – Lucky Dip

Despite its appearance, this hole is much longer to play, especially with two pot bunkers positioned on the left of the green. The green has two tiers, with the upper tier on the left. Don’t be short or your ball will trundle back to the bottom of the hill.
Hole 3 – The Mill

A fairly short Par 4 with the fairway narrowing about ¾ way down. Keep to the right side if you want a second shot into the green, all danger is visible but there are deep bunkers on the left side of the green.
Hole 4 – Lucklaw

A long uphill Par 4 for the gents and a Par 5 for the ladies. There’s a fairway bunker on the right side of the fairway. A ridge blocks your view approaching the green, which also has a steep slope at its back.
Hole 5 – Memorial

If you drive down this short hole too far then the trouble on either side comes in to play. Play to the front of the green unless you want to gamble with the steep drop off at the back of the green.
Hole 6 – Cynicus

The fairway slopes from right to left, out of bounds down the left, but don’t go too far right either or you could be blocked out by the copse of trees on the hump if you hit it well enough. This tiered green has a pot bunker to the left to catch balls straying off the green
Hole 7 – Treetops

Out of bounds on the left, but a straightforward par 3, the bunkers tend to catch any shots that are short and left.
Hole 8 – The Valley

A hole does not need to be long to be difficult. There are out of bounds on the left, but a good shot over the dip and onto the fairway leaves players an easy pitch onto a fairly flat raised green. Not easy to keep your ball on the dancefloor here.
Hole 9 – O’er the Knowe

A relatively straight par 5. If you can drive to the marker pole you will have a good view of the green down the hill. If not, then the second shot is blind. As you get closer to the green there is trouble on both sides, so keep that ball in the middle of the fairway and you’ll be fine.

Hole 10 – Gallow Hill

A straight hole up the hill, with a wide fairway but beware of trouble on both sides from the tee. Shots into the green usually require one club more due to the raised green. Not an easy green to hit and remain on as it slopes from back to front.
Hole 11 – Quarry

Another straight hole, usually very windy which can affect the flight of a well struck ball. This green may look easy to hit, but most players will come up short, or hit into the banking and stop.
Hole 12 – Cosy Corner

The easiest of the par 3’s, just a flick onto a fairly flat green and then a wee putt. Did I mention the trees down the left and the four bunkers around the green, watch out for them.
Hole 13 – The Neuk

A dog leg to the right, ideally aim for the tree on the left with a fade to take you between the trees. A difficult hole to play well, even with no bunkers around.
Hole 14 – The Sheugh

Another dog leg to the right, a par 5, so to be safe aim up the left side of the fairway to keep away from the out of bounds on the right. Second shot is ideally over the valley leaving a short pitch to the green. As you get closer to the green the fairway gets thinner and there are out of bounds on both sides and behind the green.
Hole 15 – St Mikes

Our signature hole, a pretty par 3, make sure you take enough club or you will find out what the real valley of sin is like. Out of bounds on both sides and over the railway so be very precise with your direction.
Hole 16 – The Saddle

Another short par 4 where the safest play is into the saddle with out of bounds on both sides. Then a second shot blind over the ridge into the green which slopes from right to left and front to back, guarded by two bunkers right and left and there is a pond behind the green to catch any thinned shots.
Hole 17 – Tam’s Brawest

Short holes can be very difficult to play. This short uphill hole has out of bounds up both sides and the pond which comes into play for any shorter hitters. The second shot is longer than it looks with a tiered green which flows from right to left. Take a mental note of which tier the flag is on here.
Hole 18 – At Last

The tree lined fairway slopes very slightly from right to left towards the bunker which collects many shots. The railway runs down the left and should be avoided at all costs to compensate for this there are two pot bunkers up the right side of the tiered green.
